@gerrymoth she should be fine with that one and with it being the HDD version, installing XP on it if she doesn't like Linux wont be a problem even though its only got 512 ram, the XP version of the AAO has 1gig ram but I ran XP on my Asus 701 with only 512 ram and it was fine. Come to think of it my very first XP laptop only had 512 ram too.

For that price I'm guessing its the SSD linux version. If she just wants to use it out of the box it should be fine for her......... but, if she decided that she didnt like linix and wanted windows going on it I've heard it runs dog slow, the speed of the SSD is slower to read/write than the Acer ones, it handles linux fine but crawls with XP.
If it is actually an XP version with a proper hard drive then thats a bargain price so snap one up now before they all go. I got the 120gig XP version and its sweet, nice screen, better quality keyboard than the Asus 901 but battery life isn't as good (nothings ever perfect is it) at around 2/2.5 hours.

I love it, it's become my main laptop for doing anything other than video editing or things that take hours to do (ie downloading loads of films and tv). I don't have a large music collection, about 35gig so it all fits on the Acer nicely with plenty room left over. Netbooks are one of the best things to happen to computers in recent years.

@gerrymoth I know what you mean. I've a few friends that use hotmail, they bitch and moan at the amount of spam they get and the problems they have but when I suggest gmail they say no. I've stopped helping them now, if they want to stick with the shittest email provider in history then they're on their own.

@jezlyn yes it streams media over both 3g and WiFi. The iphone app is really nice except for one problem, it always starts playing the file from the beginning and you cant skip forward to where you left of. So for music and short videos its fine but it cant really be used for watching TV shows or films until they sort this one problem out.

Ooo you decided to get one then :-) keep us informed of how you get on with it please, especially with the 40gig drive as I've not yet decided if I should pay the extra £50 to get the 160gig version. It won't be for another 6 weeks so plenty time to decide if it would be best to steam or store locally.

I've never been a big fan of Shozu either but on S60 it was the only decent way up upload to Flickr other than email, I dislike Share Online more than Shozu. But it was good for pulling down friends new pics automatically.
Mobile email isn't as big over here than it is over there, even though every phone on the market is capable of doing it. About the same time that mobile email took off in the US because of the Blackberry MMS took off over here when a lot of networks started including a number of MMS as part of the monthly tariff or offering them in bundles. I used to get 50 a month with one contract and 25 with another and I would use them all easily. It a convenience thing. You know if you send someone in the UK an MMS they will receive it as quick as they would an SMS on any phone, until the iPhone was realesed :-) but send an email and it could be days before they check it.

@jezlyn thanks for the info on klick it's so much better than mobile fotos, I like that you can select on a map where the photo was taken before uploading it rather than just using current location like every other app that I've tried does.
